Goldenrod is most commonly enjoyed as a supportive herbal tea. It has a mild, slightly bitter, and resiny flavor that can be enjoyed alone or blended with other herbs.
Brewing Method:
- Boil Water: Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil (approximately 212°F / 100°C).
- Measure Herb: Use 1–2 teaspoons of dried goldenrod per 8 oz cup of water.
- Steep: Pour the hot water over the herb. Cover and let steep for 10–15 minutes to capture the essential oils.
- Strain & Enjoy: Strain the herbs and sip warm. You may add honey or lemon to balance the herbal bitterness.
- Optional Tip: For a stronger infusion, particularly for urinary support, you may steep or gently simmer the herb for up to 30 minutes.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry, dark place in a sealed container to maintain potency for up to one year.
- Safety: Consult a healthcare practitioner before use, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, have a history of heart or kidney disease, or have allergies to the Asteraceae family (such as ragweed). Drink plenty of water (at least 2 liters daily) when using goldenrod.
