Chaparral (Larrea tridentata), a member of the Zygophyllaceae family, is a hardy evergreen shrub native to the arid desert regions of the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. Also known as "creosote bush" or "gobernadora," it is one of the most resilient and long-lived plants on Earth, with some clonal colonies estimated to be over 11,000 years old.

How To Use

Chaparral is most effective when used as a potent topical wash or antiseptic soak for the skin.

Brewing Method

  • Boil Water: Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil (about 205–212°F / 96–100°C).
  • Measure Tea: Use 1 teaspoon of dried herb per 8 oz cup of water.
  • Steep: Pour hot water over the herb. Cover and let steep for 10–15 minutes (depending on desired strength).
  • Cool & Apply: Let the infusion cool completely before applying it to the skin as a wash or compress.

Optional Tips:
For a stronger antiseptic soak (e.g., for athlete's foot), steep for up to 15 minutes to extract more of the plant's antimicrobial resins. Note that internal use is generally discouraged due to safety concerns.
