Horehound (Marrubium vulgare), a member of the Lamiaceae (mint) family, is a hardy perennial herb native to Africa, and Central Asia. Historically, its name is believed to be derived from the Old English words har (hoary/white) and hune (herb), referring to the white downy hairs that cover its leaves.
